Celebrating the 10th release of Neosignal’s full catalogue, Phace & Misanthrop have thought out something very special, big and unique: six highly charged, truly diverse but equally strong tracks written by the scene’s hottest producers!

Being one of the most constant underground labels for bass music of these days, Neosignal, like it or lump it, sets the pace with this conceptual release.

ENERGYpresents a full-scale journey through state-of-the-art broken beats and bass wizardry. From the cinematic down-tempo build-up of WHAT’S WRONG to the pure minimalism of MICRO ORGANISM (with Noisia) and the sonic delight of ENERGIE, Phace & Misanthrop demonstrate their utmost precision creating both exciting and fresh music. Their sound design is second to none, and with all the energy their music transports they still manage to keep a strong focus on the essence of sound and harmony.

On OUT OF FOCUS they even managed to get missing in action Spor back on track and on hearing tracks such as AMBOSS and NO! (with Rockwell) it’s not hard to see why Phace & Misanthrop are regularly featured in DJ sets of Andy C, Noisia, Bailey, Friction, Pendulum and Goldie right the way through to the likes of Alix Perez and D Bridge. Enough of the chatter, experience it yourself!

We hope you will enjoy this piece of music as much as we do. We at Neosignal would like to thank you for all the support of the past years!

Phace:

Over the past years, Germany´s Phace has cemented a prominent role within the international Drum & Bass and Broken Beats scene with a plethora of distinct and outstanding releases on the scene’s most famous labels such as Vision, Lifted, Shogun, Virus, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles Music and Cyanide, amongst many others.

His unique sound is imbued with deep cinematic flourishes, explosive energy, and a human analog touch, piquing demand for appearances at clubs, festivals and within the music press around the globe. Voted as ‘Best National Drum & Bass Producer and DJ’ in 2006 and ‘Best National Producer’ in 2009 at Germany’s Future Music Awards, Phace has proven what he’s capable of, both behind the boards and on the decks.

Phace’s gritty and rebellious debut album Psycho released in 2007 on the Subtitles Music Imprint was voted Album of the Month in Mixmag, and successfully garnered massive support by top international acts like Andy C, Noisia, Pendulum, Goldie, Ed Rush & Optical, Teebee & Calyx, Friction, and Spor. As a DJ, the Hamburg-based artist is known for his precise and energetic sets, and his constant touring has taken him to metropolises in all corners of the planet.

At the tail end of 2008, Phace joined forces with long-time friend Misanthrop and launched their own record label Neosignal and unleashed celebrated singles, remixes (for UK’s Hadouken!) and collaborations (with Noisia, Rockwell, Misanthrop and Spor) throughout 2009. Phace began work on ‘Phase II’ for Neosignal in 2010 and released his heavily anticipated second full-length, From Deep Space (with Misanthrop). After a worldwide album tour in 2010, 2011 marked Phace’s return to the recorded realm on Neosignal’s set of singles, including the chart storming Desert Orgy (with Misanthrop).

Misanthrop:

With more as 10 years of constant work on his own musical and artistic visions in the studio (both audio and video) Germany’s Misanthrop is no stranger to the international Drum & Bass scene.

He was caught up by the dark sounds and menacing beats of ‘drum and bass’ in the early nineties, when he decided to produce his own tracks under the moniker ‘Misanthrop’; a name that in his point of view gave him the freedom to use music as a medium to express personal experiences of human interactions. His musical arrangements symbolicly oppose to the lack of candour – his aim is to break through the borders of conventions to set new unusal grounds.

With his hard hitting and distinctive sound his back catalogue ranges from successful releases on Renegade Hardware, over to Shadow Law, Cyanide, and up to Subtitles Music. He literally went from strength to strength and found his biggest success in the release of the mighty Viperfish on Subtitles Music, which among other things got highlighted by Andy-C countless times. Next to all of this his music gained steady support by international top acts like Andy C, Pendulum, Ed Rush & Optical, Teebee + Calyx, Phace, Mayhem, Noisia, Spor etc.

As DJ, the Hamburg based musician has toured most of the world’s DnB locations, clubs and festivals. His sets are known for flawless mixing, deep cutting edge funk and enough energy to split an atom.

End of 2008 he decided with longterm friends and partners Phace to launch their own musical platform - Neosignal. He released his debut album From Deep Space (with Phace) in the beginning of 2010.
